Share the Mission Award Recipients

On August 30, 2023, the Board of Trustees of the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division were pleased to honour two recipients for the prestigious “Share the Mission Award” for 2022/2023: Meghan Calder and Rosalinde (Rosie) Bartosek.

The “Share the Mission Award” is intended to honour those who have: offered outstanding or long-term service; accepted demanding challenges and set new standards for the rest of us to follow; contributed, through action and deed, to the Catholic atmosphere of our schools; demonstrated involvement and leadership in community/parish organizations; and reflected the Mission Statement of the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division in all actions.

The first recipient, Mrs. Meghan Calder, currently serves as Principal for Our Lady of the Assumption School in Lethbridge. Caryn Swark spoke on behalf of Meghan’s nominators and relayed that Meghan demonstrates true humility and is a profoundly honest leader who is not afraid to speak out and speak up for those who need her voice. While she has a strong vision and is capable of directing others along it, she is always willing to take the time to consider new perspectives and new ideas. More than anything, Meghan has a heart for her students and staff and she works tirelessly to advocate for their needs. This care for others extends well beyond the school as Meghan and her family have opened their home as a billet family for Lethbridge Hurricane hockey players over the past 16 seasons!

The second recipient is Mrs. Rosalinde Bartosek, who serves as the Early Learning Leader at St. Joseph School in Coaldale and volunteers extensively both in the school and across the community. Tanya Slomp, one of Rosie’s nominators, notes that Rosie is a pillar of strength and comfort who radiates love and, quite literally, glitter. “Students seek Rosie’s warm smile and contagious laugh and her warm embrace. Frequent knocks on the door are for these, or bubble gum, or to gift Rosie with a note or art made just for her because they love her and know she will gladly accept anything they have to offer. Rosie proclaims her faith and love every single day and, whether the sun shines or the storms blow, she holds fast to Christ and we all get to shore together.”

“We are so pleased to be able to recognize our amazing recipients this year,” notes the Share the Mission Award Committee’s Chair, Tom Machacek. “Both of these individuals shine brightly in our schools, sharing their God-given talents with their students and colleagues to reinforce the foundation of our Catholic faith community. We are so blessed to have them working in Holy Spirit Catholic School Division.”
