Lorelie LenaourEaster Blessings, Our Lady of the Assumption Community!

In his Easter Sunday homily, Bishop McGrattan reminded us of the impact of living our faith especially in this time of physical separation from one another. He acknowledged that “our profession of faith through great insight and great intellect can bring people to the faith.” However, it is our strong conviction and simple witness of christian living, that allows Christ to come to us. Bishop McGrattan talked about the “exponential factor,” where one or two people pass their belief on to others through their words and actions. This is a great reminder and affirmation of the way we continue to help and support one another through this time of physical isolation.

The Diocese of Calgary website has links to livestream masses and news from the Diocese. I know that it is just not the same to attend mass virtually but how blessed we are to live in a time and place where we can do this and know that so many others are gathered together in prayer. Last week, I also noticed a rich blog post dedicated to Christian Video Programming for Children.

I am Lorelie Lenaour and will be serving as Acting Principal at Our Lady of the Assumption School from now until the end of June. As you know, Mrs. Kobza has accepted the position of Principal at St. Teresa of Calcutta School in Lethbridge, where she will provide great leadership as she has here at OLA. The search for the new principal of Our Lady of the Assumption School is well underway and we look forward to an announcement in the coming weeks.

I have served Holy Spirit Catholic Schools for over 35 years in various capacities and in various locations. Certainly, a highlight was the nine years that I taught at Our Lady of the Assumption school. This community is faith filled, welcoming and strong. I am very blessed to have this opportunity to return for a few months. Most recently, I served at St. Basil Catholic Education Centre as the Director of Learning for Holy Spirit Catholic Schools, retiring this past June.

In getting to know the staff and their work over the past few weeks, I can attest that they have worked incredibly hard under unique and challenging circumstances! I cannot even begin to express how impressed I have been to see the connections, commitment, and creativity that has been shown. Through their dedication, the exponential factor can be clearly witnessed at Our Lady of the Assumption School. Please continue to stay connected supporting your child’s ongoing learning.
