Principal's Message

 Welcome Back to Our Lady of the Assumption

As we welcome the start of the 2026–27 school year, I am excited to welcome back our students, families, and staff to Our Lady of the Assumption School. This year is especially meaningful for me as I return to a community that was an important part of my journey before spending the past five years away. A lot has changed in those five years, but coming back to OLA has also felt very familiar. In many ways, it feels like coming home.

As I begin my time as principal, I am looking forward to reconnecting with the people I know and getting to know those who have joined our community since I left. I am also excited to learn about the many ways our school has grown and to work with our staff, students, and families as we continue to build on the strengths of our school.

Our Catholic faith continues to be at the center of who we are. Each student who walks through our doors is a gift from God, and it is our responsibility to help them recognize the gifts they have been given. Through prayer, celebration, service, and the way we treat one another, we hope our students see that faith is something we live each day, not simply something we learn about.

Our identity as an International Baccalaureate (IB) school also plays an important role in how we approach learning. We want our students to be curious, ask questions, make connections, think critically, and reflect on their learning. The IB Learner Profile encourages our students to become inquirers, thinkers, communicators, caring, principled, open-minded, and reflective individuals. These qualities fit naturally with our Catholic faith as we encourage students to think about the world around them and how they can use their gifts to make a difference.

One of the things I value most about a school community is the way people look after one another. I have always believed that relationships are at the heart of a successful school. Our goal is for every student to know that they belong here, that they are supported, and that there are people around them who believe in them.

I am looking forward to the year ahead and to all of the opportunities our students will have to learn, grow, ask questions, serve others, and discover more about themselves. There will be challenges along the way, but there will also be many moments worth celebrating.

After five years away, I am grateful for the opportunity to return to Our Lady of the Assumption. I look forward to working with all of you and continuing the important work that happens here every day.

May God bless our students, families, and staff as we begin another school year together. I hope the 2026–27 school year is filled with faith, learning, kindness, and many opportunities for our students to grow.
